Let me introduce myself. I have been an artist for the greater part of my 55 years and my art has taken many forms - carvings, wood working, drawing, painting, photography ...the list goes on so I won't bore you.
Recently...due to a health issue....I had to sell off most of my Morgan horse breeding stock, ( which was also an expression of art in a living form ) but closing that door...as hard as it was, opened another one. I began to create again and I ( due to the health issue ) found extreme detail difficult ....so I searched for a way to express my desire to draw. After reading an article on gestural drawing ...and recalling that approach to drawing from my college days...I realized what it was I needed and I began sketching... The sketching brought on a ravenous appetite for creating! I MUST finish at least one work per day....crazy.... but possible. My new found technique brings all of my favourite media into play - drawing painting and modelling.... I first draw with charcoal, then I use a paint brush or stump to model the horse and make him appear more robust and rounded. It is the perfect solution to what was a delima.
